  Facilities and extra curricular activities
 Location and the community
We are located in the diplomatic area of Sana'a, where the Institute is very much part of the Yemeni community. You will find very few people able to speak English. Our students are all well known to the local people who are happy to spend time talking to them in Arabic. Male and female students feel comfortable to go out and about and talk to anybody they meet.

 Evening discussions
 |
We all enjoy using the Bedouin tent for private study or evening informal discussions.
Recent guests include the Omani Ambassador, an environment consultant for the LNG gas pipeline, a Yemeni consultant for the UN, a Deputy Minister from the Ministry of Education and the British Ambassador who came to share Iftar. |

Student accommodation
The student accommodation is within the Institute complex. It is arranged in large rooms furnished in traditional Yemeni style with colourful mattresses and cushions. These make excellent beds and turn into Arabic style seating during the day when you want to entertain your friends.
As well as the seating arrangements each student has a desk and chair for private study. A group of up to 6 students share a kitchen and bathroom. All services, gas, electric and water for washing and weekly cleaning are included in the total price. A fully furnished self contained flat is also available. |

There are communal areas for watching TV and DVDs or holding small tutorials. Of course the garden tends to be the favourite place in the evening and ideal for social events.

 Weekend travel
Yemen is such an interesting and diverse country that we give students many opportunities to travel outside.

"I wanted to thank you and your staff for the great experiences that you have given Edward. You have inspired him and he is really passionate about his arabic studies".
"Thanks to your encouragement and the advice given by the people you put me in touch with when we were feeling so uncertain about Yemen. Edward went ahead with his visits to your Institute. I am so glad he has spent time with you in the Yemen. We have enjoyed his stories and photos. My kind regards to you and wish you every success for the coming year." |
